Migration profile 2015

Migration Profile 2015 is the first of its kind drafted by the Government Authority for monitoring migration movements, with the support of the national coordinator for migration, Ministry of Internal Affairs, a state mechanism established with the decision of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.

About the migration management information system

Who are we?

The Government Authority on Migration is an inter-institutional body that leads and coordinates the development of governmental policies in the area of migration. In addition, duties and responsibilities of the Government Authority on Migration are as follows:

Providing advice to the State Coordinator on Migration;
Drafting Migration Profiles;
Drafting the State Strategy on Migration and its Action Plan, as well as their reviews;
Providing expertise in the field of migration to Government institutions during the process of drafting sectoral policies;
Assessing the level of policy implementation in the field of migration;
Initiating, developing, authorizing and supervising necessary researches in the field of migration;
Collecting and analyzing data to develop recommendations and policies in the field of migration;
Ensuring inter-institutional cooperation and coordination in the field of migration;
Coordinating communication and information related to migration with Government institutions and the population;
Coordinating activities and cooperating with international institutions and organizations related to migration activities and support to migration;
Representing the Republic of Kosovo at regional and international level initiatives in the field of migration;
In case of crisis situations related to migration, asylum and refugees, the Government Authority on Migration shall cooperate closely with competent institutions for crises management in the Republic of Kosovo.

The Migration Profile 2016 represents an analytical document outlining trends and Kosovo policies related to migration, including immigration and emigration. The analysis of migration trends reflected in this document covers a 3 years period or more.

The purpose of this document is to provide an overview of information and analysis on various domestic and international institutions, and in particular decision-makers, aiming that findings of this document be articulated in the state policies in accordance with the strategic objectives defined within State Migration Strategy.
